A Global Stage for Piano Excellence
As the 10th Seattle International Piano Competition draws near, the excitement is palpable. This year, the competition has attracted over 250 talented pianists from the global stage. Over 17 different nationalities are represented as well as pupils of the world’s most respected master teachers, making it one of the most diverse and competitive events in its history. From the very youngest musicians in the Youth categories to seasoned professionals, the range of talent and dedication on display promises to make this year’s competition a truly remarkable experience.
What makes this competition so special? For one, the Seattle International Piano Festival (SIPF) has always prioritized merit above all else. Each performance is judged solely on its artistic quality, thanks to our 100% blind jury process. This means that the jurors, who are themselves distinguished musicians and educators, have no knowledge of the competitors’ identities—only their music. This process ensures that the competition remains fair and that only the most deserving performers advance to the final stages.
This year’s competitors come from a wide range of countries, including Australia, Brazil, China, and the United States, to name just a few. Each of these young artists brings their own unique background, training, and interpretation to the stage, making for a dynamic and varied competition. While we won’t reveal all the details just yet, rest assured that the performances you’ll hear at Benaroya Hall will be nothing short of extraordinary.
As we approach the competition, we’ll be sharing more about the categories, the contestants, and what you can expect from this year’s event.
