Nellie Cronin
A native to the midwest, Nellie Cronin earned both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance at the University of Illinois. While at the U of I, she studied with Ian Hobson. During Illinois years, Nellie served as choral accompanist for the Central Illinois Children’s Chorus and the University of Illinois Men’s Chorus. She was also the Director of Music/Pianist at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Champaign. Upon moving to Seattle, Nellie had the pleasure of working under Dr. Glenn Gregg as accompanist/soloist for The Kirkland Choral Society, the largest choir on Seattle’s eastside. While there, Nellie made her debut at Benaroya Hall. She also worked as associate organist/pianist under Dr. Scott Dean at Bellevue Presbyterian Church.
Upon moving to the Phoenix area in 2012, she has been an active collaborative pianist working with a wide variety of instrumentalists and vocalists including Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Alexis Davis and Earl Hazell. Nellie worked for 8 months in 2015 as interim Director of Music at Valley Presbyterian Church. Nellie loves to teach piano. She was fortunate to get her primary training in high school working as apprentice to Elvina Truman Pearce in the Piano Pedagogy Department at Naperville College in Illinois. Just out of college, she was selected as primary teacher for the Iroquois Arts and Education Council.
Since then, she has always maintained a private piano studio–first in Champaign, IL, then Bellevue, WA and currently in Scottsdale, AZ.
